Two local students were the guests of honor at the recent First State Manufactured Housing Association Annual Charity Golf Tournament, as Scholarship Recipients. The two recipients for the 2008 Academic Year were chosen for their academics, extracurricular and community involvement. They are:
Jonathan Adam Duerr, a 2008 Polytech High School graduate with a 3.2 GPA will be attending the University of the Arts in Philadelphia majoring in Musical Theatre. In addition to advanced placement class/curriculum, Jonathan has received various awards for photography, performing arts and video production. He also served as Senior Class President at Polytech High School. His hobbies include acrylic and watercolor painting, writing poetry, playing guitar, writing music and singing, dancing, writing short stories, photography and reading.
Kacie Sue Pinnock, a 2006 Graduate of Woodbridge High School is now a Junior at York College of Pennsylvania. She is the daughter of Karen and Thomas Brennan of Greenwood, who are extremely proud their daughter has achieved Dean’s List recognition every semester since entering college. Kacie is currently holding a 3.83 cumulative GPA while majoring in Music Industry and Recording Technology with a minor in Entrepreneurial Studies She holds the Fundraising Chairperson position with the York College Intercollegiate Equestrian Club. At home she attends Dunamis Youth Group at the Midway Assembly of God as well as Sunday services at International House of Praise for All People in Greenwood.
First State Manufactured Housing Association has provided $25,000.00 in scholarships since 1999 which are administrated by the Delaware’s Higher Education Commission. The scholarship program is available to students who reside in manufactured housing within the State of Delaware FSMHA Executive Director Lori Rigby tells us, “it is such a wonderful thing to be able to offer this program through the generous support of FSMHA Members. We consider it an honor to recognize the discipline of dedicated students and are pleased to help with this financial assistance for college”.
Well attended, Megee Motors and Tunnell Properties were major sponsors of the golf event which supports the scholarship program.
